The relationship between psychological well-being and academic procrastination among students working on their thesis at Padang State University

Abstract

The research purpose is to looking for the correlation from psychological well-being and academic procrastination among Padang State University students that are engaged in thesis preparation. The present study implements a quantitative methodology. The research sample comprised 270 students engaged in thesis work, selected using the proportionate random selection method. The psychological well-being was assessed using a survey instrument created by Utami (2019) through a reliability coefficient of 0.895. Similarly, the academic procrastination was assessed using a measurement tool from Settia (2022) with a stability coefficient of 0.919. The data were examined using the product moment correlation statistical test. The findings indicated a statistically significant effect (p = 0.000 <0.05) and a coefficient of Pearson correlation in -0.549 from psychological well-being and academic procrastination in college student engaged in thesis preparation at Padang State University.
