The Relationship between Self Efficacy and Job Stress among Ditbinmas Members in West Sumatra Regional Police

Community-based police members face major challenges in their work because of their obligation to always be ready to foster, serve, and protect the community. The challenges and pressures faced by Community-based police members in carrying out their work duties can trigger stress. Work stress is a job demand that exceeds an individual's ability to deal with it. Many internal factors influence how individuals deal with stress, one of which is personality characteristics. One of the personality characteristics related to how individuals react to pressure is self-efficacy. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and work stress in Community-based police members at Polda Sumatera Barat. This study uses a correlational methodology and is quantitative. The population of this study was Community-based police members. The number of samples was 47 Community-based police members. The study used a total sampling technique in sampling. Data for this study were collected using a Likert scale consisting of two scales, namely the self-efficacy scale and the work stress scale. The data analysis technique used Pearson Product Moment. The correlation test shows that the correlation coefficient is 0.350 and the significance is 0.016 (p <0.05), indicating that there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and work stress Community-based police members at Polda Sumatera Barat. The higher the level of self-efficacy, the lower the level of work stress.
