The Relationship between Family Support and Resilience in Former Drug Addicts in Padang City

Family support refers to attitudes, actions and acceptance of other family members in the form of assistance, providing help and support when needed. This is related to the level of resilience of a former drug addict. Resilience is a pearson’s capacity or ability to survive and recover from difficult or depressed situasions so that they can return to living a normal life. This quantitative correlational study aims to determine the relationship between family support and resilience in former drug addicts in Padang City. The subject of former drug addicts referred to is an individual who is addicted to crystal methamphetamine, has completed rehabilitation, is 18-40 years old, is married and lives in Padang City. There were 44 former drug addicts who where samples and obtained through a non-probability purposive sampling technic. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Pearson's Correlation Product Moment technique and obtained a significance of 0.000 <0.05 and r count is positive 0.667> r table 0.297, so there was a strong and positive correlation between family support and resilience in former drug addicts in Padang City. It can be concluded that the greater the family support given, the higher and more positive the level of resilience of former addicts. Likewise, the smaller family support, the lower the resilience of former drug addicts in Padang City.
