Abstract

Co-parenting is defined as the collaborative effort of both parents in raising their children, with both partners sharing the responsibility of childcare. The employment status of the mothers in this study is categorized as housewives, ASN/employees, and free workers. The objective of this study is to examine whether the employment status of mothers with children enrolled in elementary school in the city and district of Solok impacts their co-parenting practices. The study employed a descriptive comparative quantitative approach, utilizing one-way ANOVA analysis. The study's population comprised housewives, mothers with permanent and freelance jobs, and mothers with children enrolled in elementary school. The sampling technique employed was convenience sampling, yielding a total of 143 participants. The researchers employed The Co-parenting Relationship Scale as a tool to collect data. The statistical analysis of the data yielded a value of r = 0.608 (sig. > 0.05), indicating that there was no statistically significant difference in co-parenting relationships between working mothers and non-working mothers. The study's findings suggest that the mother's work status does not have a bearing on the quality of her co-parenting relationship with her partner. However, it is important to note that many parents remain unaware of the full scope of responsibilities and duties that mothers and fathers share in co-parenting relationships, both towards their children and their partners.
