Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the use of the Hear Me application based on Augmented Reality (AR) technology in improving the sign language competence of teachers accompanying deaf children through a literature study. The main obstacle in learning deaf children is the limited mastery of sign language by teachers, which has an impact on communication and student engagement in inclusive classes. This study reviewed 12 relevant scientific articles to identify the effectiveness, challenges, and supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of AR in sign language learning. The results of the review indicate that the use of AR applications such as Hear Me can improve teachers' understanding of sign language visually, independently, and interactively. However, the success of implementation is greatly influenced by the availability of formal training, adequate digital devices, and supporting infrastructure. This study recommends the need for support from educational institutions and cross-sector collaboration to optimize the use of AR in inclusive education.
