A Descriptive Study on the Quality of Life of People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Padang

This study aims to look at the description of the quality of life in people with HIV / AIDS in Padang city. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative research with purposive sampling technique. The population of this study were PLWHA undergoing treatment at the Seberang Padang health center and the sample of this study amounted to 83 respondents who were undergoing antiretroviral treatment. The instrument used was the WHOQOL-HIV Bref. Data analysis in this study used t test and ANOVA through the help of IBM SPSS version 21 windows. The results showed that most PLWHA in Padang City had a high quality of life, especially in the aspects of independence (62.7%), general health (51.8%), and psychological (48.2%). The aspects of social relationships, environment, and spirituality were also predominantly in the high category. The t-test showed significant differences in quality of life based on gender, age, marital status, income, length of time living with HIV, and duration of therapy (p < 0.05). Meanwhile, the level of education, employment status and source of transmission tested using ANOVA did not show significant differences in the quality of life of respondents
