Mothers as family caregivers for patients with psychotic disorders often face care demands that can trigger anxiety. One factor suspected of influencing anxiety is social support. This study aims to examine the effect of social support on anxiety in mothers with children experiencing psychotic disorders at X Mental Hospital, Padang. This study used a quantitative method with a purposive sampling technique with 60 mothers as subjects. Data were collected using a social support scale and an anxiety scale that had been tested for validity (empirical/item validity) using the Pearson product moment validity and reliability test method. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression. Based on the results of the research analysis, the regression analysis coefficient value of (B) = -1.070 indicates a negative correlation. Social support contributed 66.4% to anxiety. These results indicate that the higher the social support received, the lower the level of anxiety experienced by mothers. Thus, social support has been proven to play a role in reducing anxiety in mothers caring for psychotic patients.
