Abstract

Media multitasking is a habit that has become part of the student lifestyle. This habit refers to the use of more than one type of media simultaneously. Most students engage in this activity while studying. Media multitasking has positive impacts, such as helping with time efficiency, but also has negative impacts, such as decreasing the ability to focus. In the learning process, students are inseparable from cognitive engagement, which plays a crucial role in increasing their involvement and learning quality. This study aims to determine the relationship between media multitasking and cognitive engagement in students. The research method used was a quantitative correlational study with a purposive sampling technique. The study sample consisted of 135 active students who had engaged in media multitasking during learning activities. The results showed no significant relationship between media multitasking and cognitive engagement in students.
